SEVERITY OF SYMPTOMS

In the context of VA claims, severity of symptoms refers to the extent a veteran’s medical condition or disability affects their daily life, functional abilities, and overall well-being.
A higher rating indicates greater severity and a higher level of compensation. The goal is to ensure veterans receive appropriate support and benefits for their service-connected conditions.

The Five Conditions Used to Evaluate Severity

These conditions help assess the overall severity and effect of a medical condition on an individual’s life, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of their needs and requirements.

IMPORTANT TIP: Don't Give Up After a Denial

Many first-time applications are denied. Far too often, veterans give up at that point, thinking it is impossible to gain benefits. Don’t ever give up! Denials are often due to minor technicalities. Find out what’s missing and re-submit your application. With our help you can avoid these denials and increase your disabilities.
