SEVERITY OF SYMPTOMS
- Frequency and duration of symptoms
- Impact on daily activities and employment
- Level of pain/fatigue/other symptoms
- Limitations on physical/mental abilities
- Overall impact on quality of life
The Five Conditions Used to Evaluate Severity
- Frequency: How often do symptoms occur?
- Impact: How significantly do symptoms affect daily activities, work, or social life?
- Pain: Is there chronic pain or discomfort associated with the condition? How severe is it?
- Limitations: Are there specific physical or mental limitations imposed by the condition?
- Impact on Quality of Life: How much does the condition affect overall well-being?
These conditions help assess the overall severity and effect of a medical condition on an individual’s life, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of their needs and requirements.
IMPORTANT TIP: Don't Give Up After a Denial
Many first-time applications are denied. Far too often, veterans give up at that point, thinking it is impossible to gain benefits. Don’t ever give up! Denials are often due to minor technicalities. Find out what’s missing and re-submit your application. With our help you can avoid these denials and increase your disabilities.
